The Bernoulli drive was genuinely clever in its day, using the airflow around a fast-spinning platter to keep the disk gliding at a safe, consistent distance from the head. It lost the format wars and faded into trivia, which is exactly the kind of obscurity that makes it catnip for a certain breed of hardware tinkerer.

The point of a build like this is not practicality. Nobody needs forty-year-old removable media to play console games. The point is the bridge itself, the small triumph of making ancient and modern hardware speak to each other through stubbornness and a lot of careful wiring.

Projects like this are also how a lot of preservation knowledge survives. Every time someone coaxes a dead format back to life on camera, the how-to outlives the hardware. It is a deeply impractical hobby that quietly does very practical work.
