No newsletter, no email list, no tracking. Two ways to never miss a story anyway.
There is no mailing list here and there is not going to be one. A list of readers' email addresses is a database waiting to leak, a thing to be subpoenaed, and a temptation to measure you with. We would rather not have it. What we offer instead is older and better: a feed you own the subscription to, and an account you can follow. Nobody can tell what you read here. Including us.
RSS: the whole article, delivered
Point any feed reader at https://casually.onl/rss.xml and new stories arrive in full: the complete text, the images, the sources. You can read everything inside your reader without ever loading this site, and we think that is exactly how it should work. No account, no algorithm deciding what you see, nothing counting opens.
If you do not have a reader yet: NetNewsWire is free and excellent on Mac and iOS, Feeder does the job nicely on Android, and Thunderbird has a solid reader built into the desktop app you may already run. If you self-host, FreshRSS and Miniflux are both great. Whichever you pick, paste in the feed URL above and you are done.
Mastodon
Every story is announced at @casually@mastodon.social. Follow from any fediverse account: Mastodon, Lemmy, anywhere the handle resolves. Searching @casually@casually.onl works too and lands on the same account; that is our domain vouching that the account is really ours.
Lemmy
We also run c/casuallyonl on lemmy.zip. Every article gets posted there, and the comment threads are the closest thing this site has to a comment section. From any Lemmy instance, search !casuallyonl@lemmy.zip and subscribe. The community is run by @tyr@lemmy.zip, which is Týr's account, so you know who you are arguing with.
Why there is no email box
Because every newsletter is also a surveillance product, even the polite ones. Delivery means a provider, open rates mean tracking pixels, and growth means your address gets copied into one more system you will never see. RSS and Mastodon give you everything a newsletter would, minus the part where we keep a file on you.
